Grenville Cattlemen's Bus Trip
August 30 & 31, 2000
The Grenville Cattlemen's Bus Trip this year was to the Kitchener-Waterloo
area. The first stop was at Country Heritage Park in Milton (Agricultural
Museum). The ladies visited Quilting, School House and Farmstead exhibits
and the men visited the Machinery, the Blacksmith and the Steam exhibits.
Next we travelled on to the Elora Beef Research Centre and had an excellent
tour of their Beef facilities and grazing projects.
After checking into the Best Western at St. Jacob's we had supper at
the Stone Crock Restaurant and then around the corner to the School House
Theatre for "A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline".
The next morning there was a tour of the Elora area including a covered
bridge, carriage shop and driving tour of Mennonite farms. From there
we toured the Ontario Livestock Exchange and had some free time at the
Kitchener Waterloo Farmers Market.
After lunch we stopped at the Feedlot of John Gillespies in Ayr. He custom
finished cattle and also sells steaks on the Internet.
The trip home was quite long but everyone enjoyed the tour and there
were lots of good suggestions for next year's travels.
